07 2500 4x4?

I am new to this forum and might be new to dodge diesel also. I have a 06 f-250 king ranch fx4 with rims, tires, exhaust, programmer, sunroof, and everything but am only getting 13mpg. I am looking at a 07 dodge 2500 4x4 laramie with a 5.9. Do these trucks have a lot of problems with the a/c, interior, ect? I know the cummins 5.9 is a good engine, but was curious about the a/c and inside. I was also wondering what kind of mileage I could get out of these b/c that's my whole reason for considering selling it. Thanks

I have the truck you are asking about - the A/C and Heat works great, as in, the heat gets very hot and the A/C gets really cold, but the fan seems to work harder than it blows, kind of weird - some have complained of a broken "blend door" - do a search on here and read about it. There is a fix for it, I guess a heavier duty door....

Mileage is a lot better than 13 after break in.. when I got mine, I was getting about 15mpg roughly, I am now around 18's pushing 19mpg(in the summer) if I am all highway and I only have 13K miles on mine... I expect it to get a little better. Right now, being winter blend of fuel, I am seeing a little lower, in the 16's on mileage....

I actually prefer the SLT interior of mine over that of a Ford, I like the cloth interior with a Bench seat... but if you are asking about Laramie, that is Leather, I am not a fan of leather, so I'll let someone else chime in.

My interior:

My truck got about 13-14 when it was new. I now have 27,000 miles on it and am consistantly getting 16+ city mpg. A lot of your mileage is controlled by your driving habits........

With the bigger tires now I'm getting anywhere from 16-18 mpg.... Never have taken it on a road trip to test it. Logged all 19K miles in the Houston area if that makes a difference.

Bone stock off the lot I was calculating 17 mpg...

The overhead sucks at mpg calculations, they are always off.

The SLT seats are uncomfortable IMO.... I wouldn't buy one. The laramie seats are better.

The King Ranch compared to a Larame is like comparing a Cadillac to a Chevy. (was that PC enough for everyone? )

Whatever you do don't get the 6.7. Around town my overhead reads 19 to 20 which probably means 18 or 17 and that's the old reliable 5.9 with 10k on the ticker

Yeah, class of 05 business degree.

Anyway, good luck with your decision. Leather is nice but I got it because the SLT seats were just uncomfortable with no padding.

I had a 01 PSD Ford dually 4x4 & averaged 14 to 17,
07 Dodge, same set up gets roughtl the same, but is not roken in yet. only 6k, have the laramie & I like the leather, now thats its winter, I REALLY like the heated leather seats, almost instantly. When your working out in the cold all day, its nice to have a hot butt to drive home. Ac is good, overall I like this truckbetter than my 01, Ford mechanics told me not to buy a new PSD diesel, since I was ready to trade in (business write off reasons).

I have a 06 mega 4x4, srw, ctd 5.9 and I NEVER have seen better than 16mpg and that was all open road. Average is 11.5-12.5 per tank if you take in the idling/warm up time as winter is here. I read a lot of higher mileage on here but I don't believe it. No way someone is getting 20mpg in a 4x4 mega cab, nope, don't believe it as I have one and my buddy has one and we are both at 12.5 average and maybe 14 in the summer. Anything over that is all flat, down hill and open road. I have tried the under 2000rpm range and etc... and chips while some say they have gotten better fuel mileage I have read others say no way do chips increase mileage. So take the above as you will but as far as mileage you won't be much different. Reliability motor wise you will be far ahead with the cummins as I know of alot of Fords with injector and motor problems.

The Cummins takes about 50K miles to get fully broken-in. Your fuel mileage and power output will progressively get better up to this point.

I recently purchased an 07 Dodge CTD, QC, SB, it has 20" wheels 37" tires and a 6" lift and highway I get about 16.5 (according to the overhead), my truck has about 27K miles on it, but as we all know the overhead is incorrect. I was keeping track of mileage to do some hand calculations but the wife "Accidently" reset the trip meter on the dash and messed that up. So next fill up i'll do some hand calculations.

not to hijack this thread, but anyone else in the Utah / Whyoming / Colorado / Idaho area with a simmilar setup have any input as to the mileage they are getting?

BTW, I love the interrior of my truck, its so simple and easy, comfortable seats.

The air conditioners in these trucks seem to be a little weak when idling sitting at red lights or whatever. A common complaint search for it. Guys with high idle enabled say it helps out a lot though.

My 07 just turned 6000 miles.I have been meticulously keeping mpg data on it.Last fillup I averaged 18.73 mpg and that was w/4wd about 20% of time here in northern VT.Winter blend. You'll love the sound of the Cummins over the P-stroke.
