06 and mods dealer can detect it?

Hey I have an 06 qc 2500 4x4 automatic CTD. I had an 01 but I was involved in an accident and it was totalled. I loved that truck. Ran good. 110,000 with just a lift pump and A/c compressor. Anyway to the point. I have heard that with the 3rd gen that the dealer can detect if an aftermarket engine mod (i.e. electronic fueling box) has been or was ever installed on the truck. Just wondering had an edge ez on the 2001 and the ******* didn't know one way or the other when I took it in for service. Any info would help. Thanks.

As far as I know, that's still the case. Fueling boxes like the EZ are not "detectable" if you take them off before service.

Just don't use the sticky-backed velcro that comes with them for mounting purposes .

help.

come on guys noone wants to comment on this? Would like to know if I need to worry about the "dealer" voiding the warranty and being able to tell if a box has ever been on the truck. I guess moderators didn't like my prior explicative for dealer. Thanks for the help.

Well it's sorta been hashed around a lot. A search should give you lots of reading material. Opinions vary as to the level that a dealer can or will do to determine if a performance mod was done. Simple low hp pressure box would be very difficult for the dealer to detect if it was removed correctly. There are always some tale tale signs. The MAP, Fuel Pressure and Injector Control connectors do have a white seal stripe that could make someone look harder. Nice clean spot where the velcro was removed or very clean spot for no good reason, etc.

If there is major engine damage then STAR will get directly envolved and anything can happen. Depends on how much of a gambler you are. I decided a long time ago that I will be responsible for any damage that my mods cause. If something is broke and the dealer still wants to warranty it, so be it. But I don't remove boxes or any other mod just because I want the dealer to look at something to do some maintenance work. I just tell them to be very careful on the test drives because the truck is very responsive to the throttle.
