06 manual 6-speed fast idle

man, i hate to drive this in to the ground, BUT, if YOU have a 06 6-speed that you have had the fast idle activated WITHOUT using a performance tuner (in other words by the dealership) WITH OR WITH OUT a clutch switch, please speek up.

my guy at the dealer said (and i quote) ((witch is a lie)) " It cant be done"

we all know about the pin, and the clutch switch thats all ready there, that isent the right one, (cus its only goo dwith the clutch all the way to the floor, and we need on that also tells the computer that the clutch pedel has been pressed on just a little), but what i want to know is have you been able to get the fast idle turned on on your truck.

My guy at the 'ship told me that if i used a jumper on the pinn #22 , and a dealer saw it that the warintey would be voided. DUH!!! if i was going to take it to a dealer, i would remove the jumper, DUHH

i cant even beleave, that he wouldent houmor me, and take 2 min out of his not so busy day and hook it up and press the button and say "good luck timmer"

this is bullpoop,

so, if YOU have a 06 6 speed with fast idle, id like to hear from you. if your around dayton ohio, or 3 or 5 hours away, adn CAN do it, id still like ot hear from you, cus yes, i would drive 10 hours out of my way to prove that it can be done, even if i have to buy some dang clutch switch.

That is BS. They cannot void your warranty for that. Probably someone who knows a little about alot and alot about a little.

That aside, I have high idle in mine. All we did (my buddy and myself) was he got me an ECM pin from work, then we hooked it into #22 and grounded it. I now have high idle.
Previous to that, I took my truck in to the dealer and had them enable my high idle as they said it would work. It didn't. but this was before most knew about said mod.
Just do the mod and consider the guy you spoke to an idiot. Dodge wanted to charge me 650 dollars for high idle. I don't think so Tim.

I got to experience the factory "fast idle" this past week. Went to the Panhandle (Texas). Lows in the high teens low 20's while I was there. The truck started fine in the mornings. Got out of the truck one morning and thought something was wrong at first. The thing idled right up to 1000 rpm and held it there for a couple of minutes. The next day it did it again but it held that speed for 5 minutes easy. I finally went an blipped the throttle and it disengaged. I forgot to see if the cruise buttons would manipulate the idle speed. But living in Houston I dont need it much. But it would come in handy in the summer while I'm idling in a pipeyard.

[QUOTE=D-Roc;1271978] had them enable my high idle as they said it would work. QUOTE]

The "tech" at the 'ship wouldent even turn on the program in the ecm, he just kept telling me "it wont work" and asking me "why do you need that?" and so on and so forth. im sitting here thinking 'why did i need the 6-speed, or why do i need it to be a diesel" SIMPLE, CUS ITS WHAT I (ME, MY SELF, I) WANTED IT TO BE!!!

but im not mad at him, dodge wont teach him what these trucks can do, only what thay are diesined to do.

and yea, how hard is it to unplug a simple jumper wire from the ecm if you need to take it back for warintey work?
i may just hook up a jumper and hope maby the ecm is smart enough to be fooled into thinking it has a clutch switch on it. :P

It is actually a little trying on your patience to remove the wire. Those pins are in there good. But you don't even need to remove them. Odds are they will not even see it. Do you really want to unplug the rear ecm connector and fart around with those wires every time you take your truck in?
Go find another dealer and tell everyone you can about their shoddy service. Also mention the Moss Magnusson act.
Word of mouth travels amazingly fast in this high tech world.
I once had someone who works at a diesel peformance place tell me that the part I wanted to buy was a waste of money. Then he called me down by saying that I am a "lube tech at walmart" (I am actually a mechanic, and have been for six years, I get three tickets in early 07) Now I tell everyone and anyone about the crappy service from his performance place. Like I said, word travels fast.

I did mine and it works great!!! (I used the jumper on pin #22)
When I went to the dealer they said it couldn't be done. One mechanic told me how he used a stick and his power seat I made a bet with the service manager, I told him that if it didn't work I would pay for the time. Needless to say they were surprised that it worked. It took like 5 min.

I told my dealer about pin #22 (they enabled mine for free) and they could care less about the jumper wire... does a PTO void your warranty???? it's the same thing. your dealer is an Idiot PTO's should not void warranty's, factory cummins jumper's in the in the PTO slot of the ECM should not void warranty ether..

find a different dealer

I love my high idle
and I do not take my jumper wire off when I go in for service. what a pain that would be

Let me get this straight. In order to activate the high idle feature (using the cruise control buttons), all I have to do is to get a ECM plug, with the wire attached, plug it into #22 on the ECM, ground the wire, have the dealership reflash the computer, and I will have the high idle feature?

That is what I seemed to be reading in the above posts. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You don't need a reflash, just enable the feature with the scan tool and ground the PTO sense pin (#22 B Connector).
