06 3500 megacab-trans gone?

I have an 06 3500 megacab with 115000km. When it shifts from first to
second it seems to slip BAD. Is the trans on its way out. I searched some of
the trans related threads and see it is a common problem (pressure solenoid?).
BTW I found out yesterday that my 5 yr/160000km drivetrain warranty does
not cover the trans.....only covers the motor. Trans was only covered to 100000km.
Do I need the trans rebuilt?
Thanks for any help,
Karl.

Common problem on these trucks. I had it on mine. If you have a shift kit, it will be noticably harder.

the 5 year/100k warranty has always been the engine only.

Probably is in trouble. The question is whether the front band is totally smoked.

When the trans shifts into 2nd the intermmediate band is applied. The OE flex band is very thin and has ZERO room for wear. Usually once it starts slipping its done.

Check your front band adjustment and set to spec, you might get lucky. If you set it to spec and you have 2 threads or less showing on the bolt above the lock nut the band is shot and will need to be replaced. The trans has to come out and be disassembled to replace it.

I know that not checking what the warranty states is my fault, I just
thought it said powertrain, do other companies separate their motor and
drivetrain warranties. This is my first diesel (and Dodge), always had gas Fords.
I read that pressure solenoid writeup and it says "light" acceleration.
Mine slips on any kind of acceleration.
Looks like it will be on its way to the trans shop.
Thanks again for the help.
Karl.
