'05 Idling Rough!!

'05 Idling Rough!!

the truck has 46k on it now and for about a month now it has started to progressivly start to idle rougher and rougher. nothing sounds out of the ordinary but i am somewhat concerned because i just got it back from the dealership for new injectors and lift pump about 5 thousand miles ago. any help would be appreciated

I think you got the same problem as me injector leaking. Dose it take a good 3-4 seconds to start?

No Really, It Starts Pretty Quick, It Runs Great, But When It Settles In To And Idle, It Idles Rough

Do you have a rail pressure gauge? If so you should check to see if you're around 6500 +/- 500psi at idle. I could be the Fuel control actuator (FCA).

Did you check for codes? (you can have codes with out the check engine light on). Turn the key on & off three time & write down all of the codes. You can look up what they mean here. Just do a search for P-codes. Or you can PM me & have a code reader with the book. Its tough to tell without being there & not having any additional info.

Well, I Dont Have A Pressure Gauge, And I Just Turned The Key Three Times, No Codes, I Know This Is A Loaded Question And There Is No Right Way To Answer It, But Do I Need To Stop Driving It? I Just Had To Replace Everything On The Truck That Relates To Fuel, I Just Dont Want To Do It Again.

keep an eye on your oil level mark on your dipstick where the level is and after a good day of driving check it again if oil level is rising you have a fuel leak into your crankcase bad injectors or maybe they just didnt seat them right when they installed your new ones. My first guess was the rail pressure also though you may get your hands on an obdII scanner and watch the rail pressure. Or heck take it back to dodge if its under warranty let them deal with it no sense in you doing their leg work.

I had a problem with mine idling rough and it turned out that the Torque Converter bolts had loosened off. If yours is an auto this could be your problem. the dealer kept telling me that it was an injector but they were wrong. Hope this helps

check the oil like recommended. have you/do you use any fuel treatment to keep things clean?

remove the flash pac and try it. then remove the predator and try it. narrow down which one may be causing you problems.

Mine did something similar, it idled rough but only from time to time... It turned out to be the Camshaft Position sensor heading south, it didn't give any codes either until much later, after leaving me stranded in the weeds at newyears...
Hope it's nothing serious!

Mine has been idling with a light rolling idle for over a year. NO box on it. took iti off. then, in the last couple of weeks, it started to surge at idle. it would suddenly jump up from the desired pressure, ( I own DRBIII) set Idle pressure was 5300, and the diesired would jump past 7000!
it's still under warranty, so I took it in on monday, and there it sits.......
NOTE,
FCA is on NATIONAL BACK ORDER
I told them what their finding would end up with, and they came to the same conclusion, FCA sticking. The truck has been sitting in their lot for a week now............. waiting. Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the thread, its more of an information statement, if the FCA goes bad.
