I have an '04.5, just had a brand new set of injecors in it 4,000 ago. I've been noticing a little less power it seemed like, and out of no where, it just lost throttle response, and started puffing black smoke, and having a hollow sound out the exhaust. if i put it in neutral, the truck is fine, throttle response, builds boost, engine sounds fine. put it in any gear, luggs down, starts puffing smoke, no throttle response at all, but it will idle a few feet, and when it does that, now there is a horrible racket that sounds like the drive line is falling off. new front u joints and drive line 60 miles ago, and back ones i double checked, they are solid. any advice?

 

you are starving it of fuel.. please change your fuel filter and check your lift pump preassure before you kill your cp3 and injectors

 

sounds like a converter/ transmission problem.

 

good call Rpainter, it was a roasted torque converter. guess between all the racing i used to do and towing backhoes, somethin had to finally give. dang kids. haha. well, gettin a new one and should be back on the game in 3 days.
