04 3500 5.9 HO nv5600 5th and 6th gear gone?
tell me in not the only one in the good old USA that has this problem???? just driving home, went to up shift into 6th gear and reved back up.. tried it twice.... same. coasted to my corner to turn, came to a stop and tried to start out in 1st nope.. still in either 5th or 6th?? stuck in high gear. in a moment of anger and maybe confusion i slipped the clutch very gently and creeped it 1/8 mile and then rolled down hill to my house. called wrecker and towed it in.. 2 days later the "dealer" said they got it to shift from the start and 1234 and R was fine!!! NO 5th and 6th gear to be found???? ok so any one with any idea whats with this tranny would be appreciated!!
ps: i installed a BD SHORT SHIFTER 8 MONTHS AGO... OK TILL NOW?? 4 people have told me the "shifter" has nothing to due with it???

Well, since it locked up in 6th for you, and the dealer got 1 thru 4 to work, I'll bet it IS the shortshift. Lockups like that are almost always shifter problems.
NV5600 trannys are pretty bulletproof.
Let us all know what they find out...

Update!!!
thanks guys for the reply.... at this point, the dealer says my SHIFTER did NOT cause the problem.. they said it's a fork/rollpin/nut or something has "broke" inside tranny... ok, so it will be coverd under warranty?? YES!!..
so after 1 week sitting there maybe just maybe they will yank the trany out today wed, just before turkey day... yeah right. or they will try to pull it friday??? this whole thing is screwed. the dealer said they will tear down trany and "see" whats going on inside? "hey run and get me a flahlight i think i see something'?? LOL well dealer also informed me that by the RULES...... they have to "attempt" to try to FIX or repair it first??. so the "repairs" must exceed 70% of the cost of a "new" nv5600 to put a NEW/REBUILT one in it's place...
at this point thats all ********. just yank it out and replace it!!! the nv5600 is a very complicated trany.. so unless this tech is real good at rebuilding this trany, i don't see this repair lasting to long down the road??
i was told by 3 shops that "rebuild" this trany, that this trans is a strong one, but.............................you just can't "speed shift" it or bang it around much? hummmmmmm ok so i have speed shifted it a few times in the past ect..... and this is what happends??? nah... i think it's a "defect" in the trany, that hasn't hit the TSB'S yet. if you read the artical in the "HELP" SECTION posted by RCW, it should explain everything going on with this set up.. this guy know's his stuff... and has been varified by the other 3 shops..
my hat is off to RCW with that post..
ps: i thought shifter at first also...
