03 hard to start going to burn it

seems like this is happing to aolt of people here. but new filter, 19psi fuel pressure durring cranking, but it will not fire off. i have checked all hoses and fittings they are all tight and not leeking. i still think it is sucking air from somewhere. this is killing me been dealing with this for a month or more want to burn the tuck.

once it starts there is some injector rattle then quiets down runs great.

does anyone have any sudgestions?

Any codes?
Hard starting or no starting can be low rail pressure caused by weak, leaking injectors.

ya

i have been watching that other thread. i can not figure it out for the life of me. no codes either. it is getting worse everyday if i take the fuel filter out it will start quicker but not normal. there is no white smoke when it finally light up.

question 1 if you run the lift pump and open the water drain there should be no air correct?

it just seem like ther is air like startiing it afer running out of fuel all the time

took all mods off no smoke, runs good just wont start. at 84*F in florida there is a problem

I wonder if it's possible for the ecm not to be able to sense crank position or something like that and not allow injection. Craig

Need to take it into the dealer and have the injectors tested. They can hookup the scan tool and monitor the rail pressure.

It's not injectors because they would not all go out in exactly the same way at the same time. It sounds like air. The water drain is at the bottom of the filter so you won't see air there. There may be a suction leak between the lift pump and the tank. A cracked line, a leaking thread, tank low on fuel, something. See if you can find air under the fuel filter cap. If so, it's a suction leak, and that won't affect your primary fuel pressure. You may have to run a temporary new line from the tank to the lift pump to bypass the entire fuel supply line to prove that's where the problem is. Look for an air leak problem.

ok

i took the fuel tank out of the equation. tried it same problem. i have off tomorrow im going to try to go around the fuel filter housing. it weird that it will start if you take the filter out. i took think it is air but can not find where all line are ok tight, no leeks. i should have a new lift pump tomorrow but do not think that is the prob.

if it is the fuel drain im going to me really mad because it would be a eary fix. this prob sux.

maybe fuel stand pip in the housing?

The fuel or water drain is on the pressure side of the lift pump. So it won't be a source of air. Keep looking for a suction leak. Or is that filter completely clogged?? Is the lift pump so weak that it can't keep up with the injection pump, causing a vacuum in the filter body? It seems like air from somewhere.

Also if you have a rail pressure relief valve could it be causing the rail to not build enough pressure to fire the injectors, as mine has done 3 different times. Not sure the 03's have this feature but just a thought to add to the list. MAYBE with the filter out there is a little more pressure that will generate enough pressure to fire the injectors. As I said, jsut a thought.

Mine has had hard starting issues,I tried all sort things ,I retorqued the transfer tubes ,and that looked like my problem,it now start up every time.

I also changed the lift pump for a walbro at the same time ,so to say for 100 % sure that the transfer tubes were the problem is hard to say.

retorque them to 3,5 kg/m I believe thats 25 ft/lbs,it cost nothing.

No not all of the injectors are going to fail at once but on my 05 three of them did. I had to keep my truck plugged in in the middle of spring and beginning of summer to get it to fire right away if not it would crank for-ever.. I have 4,5,6 go out all at once. I am betting it's injectors.. Need to have the injectors tested..
