staceyrp5- i went to my local autoparts store and bought a bolt with the same threads as my banjo bolt and put it back in place of the banjobolt with the return line attached. This did not cure my problems by plugging off the valve so i sent my injectors out to F1 diesel to get tested and fitted with flux 1 nozzles. Im pretty sure i had one or more injectors leaking down or maybe even cracked.

Good choice going with F1, Don M has great product & even better service. I also have 40hp F1 in my 03.

reading ur threads i did not see if u had looked at the injection pump at all? I was told that after replacin the lift pump that it may have taken out the injection pump. But these also r the people that told me i needed a new engine when it was the flex plate that stripped. just tryin to eliminate that as a possibility.

I have heard all good about F1 but its been 2 weeks! they are swamped and i miss my Truck!. Shipping from PA to Tx is about a week one way with ups ground

As for the inejection pump. I had the dealer check it when they retorqued my crosstubes to the injectors and it was fine. The rail pressure was within spec . And my lp was fine making 8 psi at the fuel canister so i doubt theres any problems with my injection pump. Jordan

Angry

Like u i removed my banjo bolt to see if it was the pressure releif valve, Of course no luck, i talked to a company in oregan and they suggested to send the injectors in and get them pressure tested. My truck is a work truck, need it everyday!!! If anyone knows of a company around wyoming that can test, may be able to get done in a day, instead of 2 weeks.Frustrating.

Sorry man, Goodluck with the search. Its gonna be a couple days tho to get everything no matter what because your gonna have to have the truck cool enough to pull the injectors and then send them out. Maybe you could find a bosch dealer and have them do it on a weekend for you until you can afford time or make arrangements with a perfromance company. I know alot of companies will send you whole injectors with nozzles and you send yours back but ive heard a few bad things there. Im not saying its a bad thing overall but you may wanna make sure they are in working order before you put them in. Jordan

took truck to the shop found that 158,000 miles is a little long for a trucks injectors. They want 4,700 to remove and replace injectors. Queston do u guys know if it is more complicated to replace injectors in diesel than gas. Tryin to see if i can cut cost.

What kind of starting issues were you having? Was it not wanting to start when the engine was cold, or not wanting to start after it was hot? My 03 still gives me trouble starting on a cold morning. Once it starts and gets warm, or if the outside temp is above 60-65F I have no trouble. I was just thinking about capping the valve like you tried.

Ace- i cant help ya out. sorry.
03Ram- My truck would turnover faster than normal and crank for over 45 seconds if i chose to. Id turn the key off, wait a minute then try again. usually it took 3-5 tries. If the engine was cold it would start on the 1st try with a very long crank time. I also had a rough vibration after this started. It went away and the problems went from there. My buddies 03 like mine sat for over 5 months in his garage and started the first try with no trouble. Comparing it to mine it was black and white. After about a week it didnt matter if it was hot or cold or if my edge was on or off. Even with the capped rail no change. So as earlier stated in my thread i sent my inectors to F1 and had them repair 2 injectors and put flux 1 nozzles on. . I cant wait to get it back!

ps- your grid heater delete could have a part it that lol. idk how cold it gets ion a cold day in NC but here in pa even when its 50 or 45 i let the grids heat up if they want.
