03' 5sp-6sp swap?
Ok, I just picked up last night an 03' with a 5 spd manual trans. It also has 4.10 gears so the RPM's are around 2200 @ 70mph.
1) Any issues with running a 6 speed with the 4.10 gears?
2) If the answere to question one is a no, does anything have to be done to the computer to swap in a 6 speed?

I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night so I might be wrong... but I think the 6-speeds have even higher rpm's at Hwy speeds than the 5-speeds.
You'll love the 4.10 gears while towing your camper as you can tow at 60-65mph and still have enough rpm's to create all the boost you'll need.
I have to keep my towing speeds at 65mph+ if not my rpm's drop to low and I can't build boost.

I had a 5 speed with GV OD and 4.10 gears. It was perfect. Made 7 perfectly spaced gears. I now have the G56 in my '06 and the OD ratio is .80 instead of the .75 in the 5 speed. The spread between the gears is tight so splitting with GV is of no use. Wish I had the 5 speed and GV!

I think you'll like the 5spd unless you're towing pretty heavy. The 5spd is nicer to drive empty and around town. I had a 97 5spd/3.54 and it sucked towing on slow, 2 lane roads - geared WAY too high to run less than 70 mph in any sizeable hills. I thought about changing to 4.10 but I wanted a 3rd gen QC and all the other improvements. The 5spd clutch won't take near as much tq. as the 6spd clutch. I had to change it when I went past about 750 tq. I don't know about your SO but my HO needed help with widening the power band and the top end - it went fairly dead at about 2200 rpm. The muffler and stock turbo were terrible. The turbo change, especially, made it a whole different truck. A lot of guys are buying used 325 turbos and putting them on the early 3rd gens. Craig
