03 5 speed questions
Lookin @ an 03 5 speed.
A few questions.
Is the 5th gear nut fixed?
I personally like the way the 5 speed shifts compared to the 6 and I don't pull anything very heavy, so I don't think I really need the 6 speed.
Power was 250 and 460, correct?
I'm assuming, boxes(like the EDGE) will work on standard outputs, correct? Or at least they make versions for them? Same for injectors?
The truck has 70k on it and is in amazing condition.
Good truck or stay away?
Long story short, I want to get rid of my POS 04 GMC 5.3
I'm sure these questions have been answered, but didn't come up with anything searching.

I know I am digging this up from the past but I have a lot of the same questions. I ended up buying mine. I remember the 2nd Gens had the problems with the 5th gear nut coming off but had heard a rumor that it was fixed for the 03 S.O. trucks. Is this true? If not what is the best "fix"?

I have got the truck you are looking at. Mine is 4x4 and has been great and I am at 97k miles. Only a water pump and starter relay. It as plenty of power and have towed plenty of times so I am pleased. The only reason I would by a 6 speed was if I needed it or for the HO 305 engine. But hey you can get the programmer like you say and have the HO without the HO! Good luck. Aaron
