Manual wise, all of them are good, but in 05 they started putting in the G-56 which the only real down fall for is it is the equivalent to the 00-05 6spd (NV-5600) with a 4.10 rear end in 6th gear.

Is it easy to tell if I have an NV or a G56??
It seems to be geared really low; first gear in
4L is VERY close to the crawl ratio I had in my
4runner, w/ dual t-cases.

I guess the 38`s will take care of that....

Reverse on the NV is to the right and up, on the G it's to you and down. If it's an NV you still might have 4.10s. What are you running rpm wise at 70 mph.

Question to all -- and pardon the ignorance-- but if they can reflash to make the 600 a 610 and they can reflash to make the 555 a 610 (after all, this is just an ECM reprogram) Can they not just "reflash" and make my poor ol' 460 (CA emission 2004) a 610 too??

It's not just an ECM program, it is a complete different computer. The same computer was used from 98.5-2004, then the 600s came with a new computer to meet the more complicated injections. Also the 600's has a different turbo. Your CA version is actually closer to the Standard Output version of the first generation of Common Rail (03) than anything else. (I think)
