$100 deductible on warranty work?
Engine has been missing at idle on startup. Dealer diagnosed problem as a bad injector and has ordered one to fix the problem. He warned me that there would be a $100 deductible for the the injector which is covered under the 5 year 100,000 mile engine warranty. I had never heard of this deductible, have any of you? Also, I have been running bio-diesel and he said that I should go back to straight diesel as they have seen injector problems with the bio-diesel.

I would be careful about paying the deductable that you should not have to pay!!!
I am still trying to get my $100 ded. Back from DC from when I had the updated fuel pump installed back in August.

do not pay it. get your warrenty manual out of the glove box and read it. Then take it in to them to let them read it. The cummins engine warranty doen't have a deductable. My dealer tried to pull this on me. I got "nasty" with them and then they called me back saying their computers were down and they made a mistake, that there was no deductable...
DO NOT PAY IT.

Same with me on my turbo. Had to show them, in the warrenty book, the error of their way. They finally let me leave without paying it saying they would probably have to bill me later when they figured it out. Never heard another word about it from them.

The $100 deduct is powertrain.Trans,diffs,etc.Engine is differant with 0 deductable.Usually its a honest mistake I think on dealer personal if not real experianced or dosen't handle many diesels etc.But it is in their policy and prochedures manual and on their computer filing of the warranty claim.More often then not when I worked in dealers someone was getting a butt chewing for FORGETTING to ADD the deductable to tickets that was suppose to pay one.

MMMmmmm.... Grits!!
Hey guys
Not to be the harbinger of not-so-good news. However, check your warranty manual again. A $100 deductible applies to the 100k Cummins warranty after 5 years of in-service time, regardless of mileage. In-service date is usually the first day it was originally sold.

Again for the many that don't understand it:
Original warranty: 3 years, 36000 miles no deductable
Some earlier trucks 7 year, 70000 miles drivetrain warranty $100 deductable
Cummins engine warranty, 100K under 5 years no deductable, 5 to 7 yrs $100 deductable.
Injectors, fuel canister mounted fuel pumps plus many other items are under the Cummis warranty.
Also I believe that many dealers service writers are just too lazy to read their own warranty items. I argued with a service manager about $100 deductable on an injector with him looking right at the page refusing to see what was written there and the lady that entered warranty items telling him "No deductable on injector replacement". Finally had to get the dealership manager to mediate it to the correct conclusion...
