Help! Turbo failure?

Help! Turbo failure?
All,
I was driving to work on the highway and suddenly noticed the truck downshifting and revving, boost was going up and down, I looked in the mirror and the truck was smoking my bully dog said it was boosting at 0 psi. I made it off the highway then the truck shut down. I towed it to work and looked for a blown hose no luck, pulled the intake off and there was a little oil and about 1/4" of play on the shaft still spins though. Sooo opinions what is wrong? What model turbo do I have? How do I test that solenoid on the side of the turbo? Is there rebuild kits available? Possible upgrades turbo wise while retaining stock engine brake? Please help
Thanks,
Ben

So I also have codes and I can not figure out U010c? I also have P0102 Mass airflow circuit low, P1193 Air temp high, P2228 barometric low, and ofcourse P1451 Dpf Performance do all these codes also point to the turbo or is something else wrong?

the presence of oil and a whopping 1/4" of play (really, that much and nothing is touching?) along with the performance described is indicative of catastrophic turbo failure. It will need to be replaced. I am not aware of rebuild kits... that does not mean they don't exist.
If I am not mistaken, you have the Holset HE 351 variable vane version of turbo.

So I replaced my turbo with a reman from clevite (bosch/MAHLE) and now my truck runs but only boosts to about 6psi max truck is still throwing codes P242f and P1451? I think when my turbo was blowing smoke and clogged my dpf?

Took it for a 45min drive on the highway now it is boosting up to 12-13psi under full throttle. Sadly my DPF refused to burn off even with trying to force it with my Bully Dog. I will order the stuff to delete it this weekend but I need it to somehow work when I have to pass emissions once a year? Has anyone ever tried to unclog the DPF by cleaning it out off of the truck I dont want to buy a new one just to use it one day a year?

That is for sure about paying all the $ to replace the emmisions to use once every 2 years or what not. 'At least it might last then though... I thought the emmisions was under warantee for 100K? I would surely check into that and get them to fix/replace it and then delete for sure!

Unfortunately, I believe that once you're in the system you're in the system... Hence, it won't matter.
Best policy is probably "for me to know and you to find out", especially if you don't make it obvious by leaving traces of hardware and installed software. A good enough detective can still point to a tuner due to some traces, but I think the chances of that not happening would be in ones favor.
If you didn't need to pass emmissions then it would be delete city and not look back. However, I think you will probably just need to pay up and find some working equipment and then delete.
