I need to replace the headlamp switch on my '97 2500. I ran the CAJM8190 part number by the dealer but that doesn't pull anything up for them. They did say the headlamp switch part number for my truck is 4886449AB and it includes the switch and connector pigtail. It does not sound like it contains the components listed at http://dodgeram.info/tsb/recalls/819.htm.

Has anybody had any luck getting the package listed for Recall # 819?

 

That part number sounds like one for an old recall kit I remember. It's probably long since expired. The switch would have been the same as a regular switch, but I believe the kit also contained a connector pigtail and a relay to bypass the park light circuit on the switch, as well as some shrink tube to splice in the new connector pigtail.

You can get the connector pigtail from Dodge, or (I think) the aftermarket, and you can easily bypass the park light circuit with a store bought relay, to make the new switch and connector last forever. The switch you can find anywhere.
