I would think that you would use the yellow shocks on the back and the zinc shocks on the front.

You can run the yellow/blue ones on a "levelled" truck. I have the puck in the front and have run the yellow/blue shocks for the last 50,000 miles with zero problems.

Of course, my truck doesn't go off road so there is no issue with over or under extending a shock but for street duty, they work fine.

I run the SkyJacker Hydro's on all 4 corners of mine.Front set is for a suspension up to 3 extra inches and the rear are for the same as I have added spring to the rear to raise the back up higher.Still not sure why I leveled the truck because after doing it I despised the look when it sat on level ground.I guess I should have lowered the front but instead I added more spring to the rear and raised it up one inch higher than the front.

At any rate, the SkyJacker's provide the sure footed ride I want and were bought out in Ohio at Trail's West.....Andy

Yes-- but my question is really why bother offering a different shock with a different part number and everything for the back? Is it worth it just to have the replaceable boots and zinc finish? I wouldn't think so, but then again I'm not in marketing

Because the front has a different amount of travel with a level kit installed. I think the replaceable boots and zinc finish are only to appeal to the customer. I personally don't like the yellow colored shocks myself.

can anyone answer my question about the upper bushings that come on the 5100's? I've been told they are junk and to use the old bushings off of my factory ones, but wanted to double check before I put them on.

I have had no problems with the 5100 bushings on my truck. No funky noises or anything.

I'm in the same position of buying new shocks for a factory setup. I've got 285/75R16s but no lift. I don't want to pay a fortune for replacements because I think the ride will be like that of a 7000 pound diesel anyway (which it is....). I've got the snow plow option in front and the camper option in back so I just want a cheap way to get new shocks. I'm still on my original set at 167K.... Looking at either Rancho, Skyjacker, or Monroes. Something that won't break the bank....

Anything designed for stock will work fine. My vote is for anything lifetime warranty. Period. My closest option is auto zone but for others it's Monroe.

Check out the monroe reflex shocks. Dont cost alot of $$ and are lifetime warrenty.

I also dont like the bilstein yellow/blue color. Also seems like the zinc finish would not rust as fast in the salt belt..

Just stay away from the rancho air remote system, many air line leaks, and no doubt more trouble than they are worth.
