What is this in Suvlights wiring kit?

I just got my suvlights kit to put in sport headlights on my 95 and just curious to know what this is(black box circled in red). Found this pic in another thread from about a year ago and the guy was asking the same question i was but never did get a definite answer. The input wires going in are from the original headlight, and the wires coming out go to the coil control circuits on both relays. So is it a low current relay controller? I don't know, just want to know for future reference so I can buy a new one if need be. Name: harness.jpg

Picture is at the bottom of the page. No numbers on the thing, just says "COMM. INSTR." on it probably the brand name. It has 8 pins but is capable of having 9 pins.

I'm sure i could re-wire the harness to eliminate this item? Just can't figure out the purpose of it.

so, where could I buy an extra one or two of these for later. call me weird, but I hate putting aftermarket things on my truck if I don't know where to get parts for them.

so i got the harness wired up and the lights put in, did some testing with the test light and it looks like this relay makes it possible to switch both relays on while on high beams. i still have not found one like it anywhere, keep looking i guess.

Take it off the harness and get a good picture of the terminals. They should all be numbered.

Had that go bad on me and the guy at Suvlights called it a control module. A replacement module was five bucks with shipping. He said it wasn't necessary to have but wouldn't explain how to change wiring to eliminate it. When mine went out, the headlights would come on by themselves, even when the truck was shut down. I'd like to know how to eliminate it in case one goes out again.
