What can I do to eliminate the Crankcase breather
I am tired of oil spraying all over the engine, is there a way to eliminate it or move it? If any one has moved it, can you provide some pics. thanks

Re:What can I do to eliminate the Crankcase breather
There are several solutions people have come up with over the years.
See below for one such remedy suggestion.

What Stamey said.
I got a 6' piece of 3/4" heater hose, a barbed nipple, 2 hose clamps and a nylon tie. Run it down to behind the front axle and pulled the end down so it is verticle. Never have oil drips in the drive. Never have oil on the engine nor truck. DC or Cummins could have done that but it's too easy!

crankcase must breath
Standard procedure is to extend the hose and toss the bottle. Beware of conditions that might plug and
freeze the hose.
Another option was recently posted on TDR. The member is an off-roader and wanted to eliminate the possibility
losing oil on steep decents. He put a hole in the top rear of the valve cover and valved it and ran a hose down.
Photos too.

Why does the crankcase spit out oil?

I doesn't actually "spit" oil. It's an accumulation of oil vapor which condenses in the bottle, then either drips out the holes, or is spewed out by the pressure of the gases coming out of the down hose at operating speed. Just make sure you cut the hose long enough to clear the front axle.

Re:What can I do to eliminate the Crankcase breather
Gentlemen -
Mine was losing oil on steep descents, and making a mess. I had the old breather kit installed by DC that moved it to the back. Now just an occasional drip on the driveway from the breather tube. I use my truck to climb and descend really steep hills, and it was a big problem for me. The kit has a cover plate to block off the front breather.

Were you able to get that done for free under the TSB?
I'm thinking about giving it a try.

Well, I didn't "eliminate" mine - simply moded it a bit and improved the system to completely eliminate the mess. I lengthened the breather hose to allow a bicycle drinking bottle and holder to be mounted to the front swaybar - horizontally, using the same mount a bicycle would use - I drilled appropriate vent holes in the new bottle, and cover it with a couple of thicknesses of old worn out socks to act as both a filter and to absorb the small inevitable percentage of oily vapor. I change the outer sock cover at each oil change if needed. Here's a pic:

... And a pic from topside - doesn't show a lot, but DOES give an idea of the cleanliness of the engine with 13,000 miles on it - the whole underside of the engine, frame and drivetrain looks the same - CLEAN!
