Water leaking on driver's side?

I had the seats out of my truck the other day and noticed the jute under the rug was quite wet on the driver's side, even the screws that hold down the harness were rusted. Anybody know of a common reason for this? If not I'll be tearing out the seats and carpet to find the leak I guess.

Thanks,

John

Re:Water leaking on driver's side?

Haven't heard any on the driver's side. But the passenger side... I hear water can leak in from the "3rd" brake light area. My passenger side was soaked and it turned out to be a bad heater core... :

Re:Water leaking on driver's side?

I got about a gallon of water out from under the drivers side carpet area and it was all from getting in and out of the truck during the winter. If you look where the sill plate meets the carpet it tapers down so any snow etc runs right under the sill plate and gets soaked up by the carpet backing. I unbolted the seat in my truck and raised it up then i pulled the carpet up the best i could and put the garden hose to it. You may think that is a pretty crazy thing to do but up here the amount of salt they use on the roads in the winter is insane so it was the best way to rinse the stuff away. After that I used a couple of old sheets to soak up the water out of the backing on the carpet and then used a space furnace on low to dry the rest of it up. Been dry ever since but I am sure come next spring I will be doing it all over again.

Good Luck
