Volume button on steering wheel changing stations?

Anybody else had this problem? If so, what did it take to fix it? I would rather keep the factory unit as my truck is all original. 01' CTD 4x4 QC Laramie SLT.

Yeah - my 99 does that once in a while or no matter what you do with the volumn button the volume goes up. If you move the steering wheel it stops and works normal for a while. I'm sure it's in the wheel/column not the radio. Is this what people were talking about when they said their "clock ring" went bad?

it is more than likely the "clock spring" rather spendy. or could that the buttons just need to be cleaned but i doubt it.

What do you mean by the clock ring being "spendy"? So far mine works well, but I'll get a new stereo and lose the buttons if it's too much.

the clock spring sends power to the controls and the air bag. and it is not cheap. dealer only item. may be cheaper to buy a new stereo.
sorry i was under the impression that someone was having trouble with the stereo controls on the wheel.

You are correct. I was having problems with the steering wheel control for the stereo volume. If the vol was over 1/2 way up, it would change the station down, if I pushed the steering wheel volume button down. I have fixed it now, or so it appears.
I had to remove the airbag and the cruise set button assembly. I then removed the volume button assembly. I then took it apart and had to bend very slightly, one of the contacts. I then cleaned it with electronics cleaner and so far, so good.
