Another thing to check, after checking your vacuum problem, are the vacuum actuators under the dash. I lost the connection between the actuator and the flapper in the duct work. My air wouldn't come out the front vents. It's a little different than the problem your having, but it's worth sticking your head under the dash to see.
If memory servers, you can see at least one of them from the driver's side looking towards the center of the dash.

Unplug your vacuum line in the engine compartment where it goes thru the firewall--put on a " extension hose " long enough to reach into the cab--then just blow thru it while you sit inside and you will hear the leak.

So I check my vacuum under the hood and the actuator under the dash and everything seems good. Is there a possibility the something is wrong with the switch that switches it from defrost to vent?

There is a round splicing block behind your ashtray that all the vacuum lines hook to---the black line with the pink coupling is the one that comes from the engine compartment---there will be vacuum there first, if not you have a leak between there and the vacuum pump. That's the line I found in mine that was leaking. Something inside the das had rubbed a hole in it. Also, the line is spliced about half way between entering the firewall and the splicing block. First move is to make sure you have vacuum at the connection before going thru the firewall then check the splicing block.
