Well, it's been almost 17 months since I was thinking of this idea and I finally found what I wanted and installed it.

This is what I bought:

I lightly sanded the chrome beauty ring and painted it semi-flat black to match the other black parts on the truck. I did have to drill a 1/2" hole for the wiring and two tiny holes for the screws. I put rubber undercoating all over the exposed metal.

They are very bright. I am using the brighter setting for the blinkers and leaving the dimmer setting off for now. That way it only lights up with the blinkers. Wired them thru the fender towards the blinker up front. Real simple.

The wife thinks it looks fairly OEM (although she doesn't use the word OEM of course). I'm really happy with it!
