Steve,
I see why you would want to add them now. I think I would add a set of the ones off the dually fenders like you're thinking of and put them on the front fenders at the same point as the ones on the rear fenders. It would look factory and being that they were on the fender you wouldn't have the issue of the wiring flexing and breaking over a period of time. Tying into the front turn signal wiring harness would be easier there too. Good luck.

I was hoping to put them on the fenders as you suggested, Rob, however, I believe the 1-ton lights are too long to fit in the little valley in front of the door as they are on the bed fenders. I have not verified, just determined this from pics. That was my original planned location. But I decided that if they are too long, putting them right under the RAM 2500 plate in the same valley, would be sufficient for my needs.

I like your setup DieselDude. Thanks for the pic... however, I have one question. Your sig states you have Isspro EGT, Pyro, and Boost gauges. Aren't EGT and Pyro the same thing?

You are correct that they are too long. I just went out and measured. The lights are 4.125" long. The sheet metal on the fender is about 3.5" and angles down to less than that because to the wheel well.

Also when measuring, I noticed that the rear fender has a little recess molded into it for the light to mount in. Not sure if it will still work like you want.

As far as I know a Pyrometer measures Exhaust Gas Temperatures, so I think you would be correct.

Good luck and let see what you come up with when all done.

mkubacak, thanks for verifying the light size. I also did not know that there was a recess built into the fender for the light. I'll have to look at one real close sometime and see if I can do what I want. (now I just need to find a 1-ton owner nearby).

Hopefully, I'll find something that works and do this BOMB soon. Either way, I'll post back when I have it complete w/ pics.

Thanks for everyone's input.

To answer some of your qestions, I just installed towing mirrors on my truck (3500) today. They the Power Vision Mirrors, heated, powered, and extend out to 21 inches. They are Great. They wanted another $100 for ones with the turn signal in the mirror. I found some small amber running lights and the plugs . I wanted to mount them on the outside end of the mirrors. I had to drill 2 small holes per light, and crazy glued the plug in the mirror housing and pressed the light onto the plug. They look great, you caqn't see them from the inside of the cab. They work with the turn signal and also when you turn on the 4 way flashers. I have taken some pictures if needed. i drive a 2000, 3500. I pull a 5 wheel RV 30 foot long and have needed these for a long time.

Pics would be great! Sound nice. Try to include a closeup of how you mounted the turn signals to the mirrors too. Thanks!

You might want to check with a dealer, since these trucks are made for export also, and in Europe side direction lights are mandatory.

There should be a part # and instructions for installation somewhere.

The clearance lights you talk of, can be had at autozone, and are about 7 bucks each. They are led and I do not think they require a hole larger than 1/8 for the power wire.

I have some extra bases, as I bought these to replace the lights in my tailgate light bar. I may do the same thing as you now...being extra safe is not a bad thing...especially when towing a long trailer.

If you take the two wires and hook one to turn signal lead and the other to the running light lead. During the day the light will flash with the turn signals. At night or when ever the running lights are on the light will be on and flash opposite of the turn signals.

I just checked tonight also, and the light base doesn't fit the groove in the door. As was said, the factory ones have a recess in the fender for the base.

But, the bases I have left over from my autozone purchase (blazer led clearance lights) appear that they would work with some creative base modification, and the only hole needed would be for the wire...1/8" max. I may try it. I also think it would might not look bad if you cut the moulding to make the recess for the base. Not cut out a section of the moulding, but notch it instead.

The flexible wire thing would be no worse than the power to your power mirrors or speakers.

Neat tip Tom....(flashing part)

This might work http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/sivimiflmole.html they should be narrow to fit in the body line. They may be to long to go on the fender. My other thought is they could be mounted on the end of the mirror.

Just something you may not have thought of.

There are tons of LEDs available. Check www.pmlights.com. Peterson is the best.

Why not drill into the fender instead of the door?
