As far as using the long piece of pipe and checking the up and down movement of the ball joints...
I checked several dodges in my area all 2500 4x4, and they all had a little play, now by a little I mean a little. you could feel it move just barely.
My tires tend to wear on the outside, and only on the right side. Would this be track bar??? I try and keep an eye on my tires and when I notice it, I get it aligned, and that usually cures the problem, for another 3-4000 miles.
Also, has anyone ever seen a tire wear where every other cleat on a mud grip wears down, but the ones between do not? This is on the outside row only

Everyother clete wear is some thing loose in the steering, tie rod end etc, My old ford did that both sides and every thing was new and tight except the steering box ,play in steering. Combined with tire balance, wide tires, rotateing your tires often helps.

by looking at ur pics in ur gallery u have extensive frame damage which can also contribute to unusual tire wear along with the lift kit ( that has no adjustable tracbar)
will cause very bad and odd tire wear
