Re:Trip computer retrofit???
A few months back I asked the dealer this same question. Essentially it would cost ~1000 in parts. I was told that along with new wiring and head unit, some of the existing wire harnesses would have to be replaced. Sounded to me like an expensive and involved job. IMO not worth it.....

Re:Trip computer retrofit???
yah...$1000 in parts would be too steep. I do like the instantaneous mpg output.
I can do it with marine stuff for under $300...but not sure about diesel (fuel return).

Re:Trip computer retrofit???
Look at the past thread titled overhead trip computer. I installed this on my '02 for around $300. The install was not too difficult. The part numbers are listed on those threads.
Good luck! I really like having those functions.

Re:Trip computer retrofit???
the hardest part (which wasn't very hard) was loosening the dash to sneak the wire harness behind it. If you look at those threads it pretty much walks you through it. My truck is an '02 so it may be different as far as part numbers go?

Re:Trip computer retrofit???
I believe it was titled "overhead trip computer"
I will have to look to see if i still have all the part numbers for the job? I may have them on my computer at home.

Did you ever find the thread with the instructions and part numbers for retrofitting a trip computer into a truck that does not have one? I just got an '01 2500 that I want to add a trip computer to and I can't find the thread either.
