Track bar will not come off

Need advise! Currently taking the track bar off my 95 Dodge Ram 3500 and the thing refuses to come off. I have a huge pry bar and with all my strength it will not slide out. I have read up in the previous searches and tried the luke links instruction and nothing seems to be working. I was thinking about drive the truck around in my neighbor hood to see if it will knock it loose. Anyone try this? Dangerious idea?

you trying to get it out and save it?

I used a picklefork and a BFH. It did mark up the ball a little though... but I didnt care, as I tossed mine. A BFH on the castle nut works too, BUT, again, you risk wrecking it.

Don't drive to fast, if that pops out it will hit the pavement and bend. Not to mention, it could send you in the ditch.

I wouldn't drive it....too risky

Get a heavy hammer and hit the area where it seats.

I never had one not come off after few good hits.

Use some penetrating oil and then a BFH. If you are going to be hitting the end of the bar, make sure you leave the nut on it so that you don't damage the threads. I couldn't get mine off with a picklefork but hitting the end of it with a 10lb hammer a couple of times did the trick.

What is a BHF? Thanks for the advise guys keep it coming. I have been wacking the crap out of it with a side of the hammer and it budged a mm but just will not go down any further. I will try hitting it from the top with the nut on, good idea not to damage the threads that way never thought of that!

Mine was as stuborn as yours. Sometimes it helps if you give the frame mount a few good whacks on the side with a BFH, and then hit on the ball stud. I had to heat the frame bracket up just a little bit with a oxy-aceteline torch. You have to be freally carefull though, you don't wanna heat it to much or you'll weaken the mount. In other words, don't heat it up till its glowing. I was suprised. I beat and beat on that thing, and it wouldnt' budge, and then I threw a little heat on it, only for a few seconds, and that was enough, it popped right out.
And if that doesn't work, maybe you need a "BMFH"

Hope you have the tires on the ground.
If the truck is jacked up the bar will be under more tension.

I have to add I do take right side bolt off first, so bar is not "under tension", then steer left or right a couple of times to have it loose, then pound on the bracket eye. I can replace one in 20 minutes now, mainly because I bought them with unlimited warranty, and I kept replacing them until I went 3rd gen type. No more worries ....

A "BHF" is a 'Big Honkin Filter'. A BFH is unmentionable on this site. We could call it a BHH. Just hit that sucker hard. Don't catch the fender on the backswing! Don't ask how I know this!

A 6ft pry bar worked well for me last weekend. In between the frame and trackbar...pryed and it popped loose. Yea, plenty of spray lube to probably help.

At work we just pound the knuckle that the bushings "sits" in, after a few good hits with a BFH they pop right out, or drop down..and this is on heavy trucks
