Track bar
Just to add a comment about the lovely track bars our trucks have. My last one lasted 6500 miles. I thought these trucks were tough? What a joke!!

Money pit, that's what they are. I can honestly say if it weren't for the online resources available like this site, I would have gotten rid of it a long time ago. I'm ready for a new track bar, again.

I initially thought the same thing, but you grow to love these things. Every vehicle you buy has its problems, I don't care what kind it is. Spend a couple bucks beefing up the front end, toughen up the tranny a little, go easy on the "bombs" and you WILL have an incredibly tough truck that surrounds an incredibly tough engine...

They don't break, but rather wear out on the ball joint on the drivers side. Bad design. Put my Solid Steel 03 TBK in about 80,000 miles ago and is still just as good as new. Stop filling NAPA's pockets..

I'm a big fan of Lazarsmith's trac bar conversion. He uses a 2nd gen track bar with zero defelction bushings on both ends. No more ball joint end. Acts just like a 3rd gen trac bar does except it maintains the clearance over the differential that we need. Nice product, great customer service.

Totally Agree!
I bgt Solid Steels 3rd Gen bracket in 04, before LazarSmith had his. 130,000 miles later I replaced bushings with LazarSmiths 'offset' bushings to center body on frame...finally. The 03 factory bushings showed minor wear and I was getting a slight sideways 'clunk' in tight turns from body slipping on frame. Nothing serious but rubber was wearing out.
LazarSmiths 3rd Gen bracket is much stouter than Solid Steels... with no flex at all...like mine has.
If I were doing it all today... I'd buy the LazarSmith!

I can't ever remember my truck driving this good now. I thought that they all were all over the road. My truck had 20000 miles on it when I got it, likely worn out then. The second one I put on was bad from the start as far as I'm concerned. This one is great even though its a cheap replacement. I will look at something different if I have to pay for a new one.

I've got a Thuren bar & it's beautiful. Steering box is terrible. I'll comment more on the box after my next alignment. Hopefully all it needs is some toe & a box adjustment. Caster is maxed out & all parts are new.
