Toyo/Michelin

This will probably start a war but which one gets the longest mileage under load. My truck came with 245/75-16E rated tires Max load 3042. I can get the toyo in 265/75-16E Max load 3415. I don't think moving up that much would hurt me to bad.

If you want long life try Toyo M-55 or H/T.
H/T are highway tires and will get better fuel economy.
The least miles I've gotten from either type was 75k, had a set of M-55 that went over 100k.

The one's I was looking at are The Open Country H/t Tuff Duty or Open Country A/T. The tuff duty is made for towing and highway. I know a lot people run the M55 but are they noisey. If I go up to the 265 to get the extra load capacity they are 1.2" taller. With these 354 gears I can't afford to lose much.

Yokohama Geolanders have been excellent. 15,000 and very minimal very even wear. Discount tire price matches web prices. $600 and change out the door for 4 with lifetime balance.

Do you really need the extra weight capacity? If not, I would stay stock for better towing, both height and mechanical advantage..
You did not say, but it seems if some off raod, AT type tires may be what you are after. Highway tires will wear longer than AT tires in general. Alot of people on the site like Michelin AT tires, as well as BFG AT KO's, Toyo, Cooper.
I like the Goodyear Silent Armour, 50k warranty. They run well in ALL conditions, wear fairly well, quit. You will not go wrong with any of these.
If you have Pep Boys around, you might check out their dakota tires made by Cooper. By 3, get 1 free.
Good luck tire shopping, look around!
Do a search on here, lots of reading.

I've seen the Geolanders up close and they look great. I e-mailed Yokohama asking that they consider manufacturing an E rated one. I got a form letter. They could sell all they could make in an E.

I have always used a 245/75E. With the 5th wheel no problem but I purchased a TC about 5 years ago and with 2k+ in the bed they seem to squat some even with 80lb of air. It may be the brand of tire I have been using. The last set I did not get but about 30K out of them but 95% was with one or the other camper. This set is fairing a little better and I have a 10k mile trip on them plus all the pulling with the 5th wheel.

My tire man can get any of the above mentioned tires except Yokohama. 11/2 miles from my house one price no tax put on ready to roll. If I have a problem with them he fixes it I can't hardly go wrong with that and he is reasonable.

A buddy put the Toyo H/T on his F-350 and is not happy with the apparent tread wear he is seeing after only 6000 miles of highway and around town driving. He says they feel mushy in the turns and isn't as pleased with them as he hoped. His mileage per gallon is improving though, over his stock M&S tires.

55k on the Toyos and about the same for the last set of michelins.

I got a new one for you. I just bought these tires for my Ram 98 3500 Dually. These Michelin XPS Rib, P235/R86-16/ These are commercial tires designed for commercial, heavy-duty use. Load E rating, steel casing, can be retreaded. Read a lot of great reviews on these, excellent dry/wet road ratings, not for snow or mud, strictly street tires. They are not cheap, ran me $217/ea at TireKingdom, but many people are claiming to get 200k and more miles on these tires. So far, I really like them a lot. Worth looking into!
