Tow mirror questions
Ok i bought tow mirrors to put on my truck. I noticed that the drivers side will pull/swivel in towards the door to keep idiots from clipping them when you have it parked. However the passenger one will not pull in. Are all tow mirrors supposed to pull/swivel in or are some fixed in the out position. My moms and dads driver and passenger sides will pull/swivel in flat against the doors. So whats wrong with my passenger side mirror. How can i fix it to where it will pull in as well.
And also. My mirrors are loose. After a few days of driving i have to readjust my passenger mirror back to where i can see. It slowly creeps down. Is there a way for me to tighten it or make it stop moving?

Two weeks ago I just took some old black bed sheets I had for rags, and cut out 2' sq sections and slid them under the mirror and inside the case (with a kitchen knife) until there was enough material behind the mirror to hold it in place. Working so far.
Probably a temporary fix but so far so good. I thought about hardening gel foam but realized would not be able to readjust for towing so ....
Would love to hear a better, more permanant solution. Anyone?

On the bottom side of the mirror where the two pieces join where they swivel there is a circle cut out. Is there a way to take that off and maybe loosen or tighten a bolt to allow my mirror to swivel. maybe it is just to tight or something. I know there has to be a bolt in there or something. There has to be some way to adjust these things.

When I bought my truck new in late 2000 my pax side glass was too tight and very difficult to move. The mirror does come apart and I am pretty sure there is an adjustment as I adjusted mine and it's been good since. I just don't remember how to get it apart.

Ok that solves one problem. Thanks Busboy. And now for a sloution to the other problem. Still need to know how to loosen my swivel point so that it will fold in towards the cab. Not the swivel to flip the mirror up and down but the swivel to pull the miror in towards the cab and pop it back out into viewing position. I think the small circle underneath the mirror can be pulled out and i am thinking there will be a spring and a bolt or something in there that needs to be loosened so that the mirror can be pulled in. Not positive but thats my guess.

I have heard of people taking third generation towing mirrors and converting them to fit 2nd gen trucks. This would involve taking the mirrors apart at this swivel point to install a base that would fit a 2nd gen truck. So that means there has to be a way to loosen or tighten this connection point. I know it can be done just looking for a little insight to help me out.
