? on tow mirror conversion

OK......i have been reading about tow mirror converisons, and I am confused.

I have the regular 6"x9" oval, power mirrors. I want the tow mirrors, but I only want them if I can have power.

Do you have to have both sets, (the 2nd gen non-power flip out tow mirror & the 3rd gen power flip out tow mirror) before you can do the conversion, or can you use the bases of the oval mirrors, on the flip out 3rd gen mirrors?

confused?.........good!!!
Thanks
Phillip

Sounds like you have to have the 2G tow mirrors and the 3G power ones for it to work.

Another possibility?

PowerVisions
The PowerVision heated, electrically adjustable, electrically extendable/retractable mirrors work exactly as advertised. They took about 4 unhurried hours to install - most of that time was installing the extend/retract wiring harness from the driver's to the passenger's door and installing the extend/retract switch in the driver's door.

My only complaint (and not everyone will feel this way) is that the passenger's side mirror is flat, not convex; therefore, it has a more limited field of vision than the factory mirrors. I notice that PowerVision now has clip-on convex mirrors on their website as an accessory, so I guess if I would spend a few bucks, that gripe would go away!

For reference, we tow a 36' triple slide 5ver.

The Power Visions can be found;
http://www.powervisionmirrors.com/models_specs_04.html

Also there is another company who sells the power towing mirrors,

I guess so, in that TDR thread a guy who works there asked them if it were possible to have a group buy or produce a combination, they said no because DC owns the right to it and Magna is just a manufacturer.

I think the **** looks 'OK' (a little Pherdish?) but yes stock looks better.

Well then, DC should offer the mirrors as an add on accessory.

One more reason somebody at DC should be watching forums like this one for ideas on how to make their vehicles better and what options the customers want. If they would take a dozen or so owners off of this website or a similar one they would have a whole host of ideas about what real consumers want and need on and from their trucks.

I'd say they did...hence the power, heated towing mirrors available fo the 3rd Gens...

Good luck getting a manufacturer to offer anything new for a discontinued lineup.

The OEMs are a lot cheaper than I thought they'd be.

Geno's has ****'s for $360. Also BestTop is now making some for $300 and change. Also power, electric and heated.

These look nicer than PowerVision.

Hard to tel lthe difference between **** and BesTop. One thing I know is that BesTop makes quality products... I wonder if these are new because I've never heard anything about em before. I might be the guinea pig on these... They look just as nice as **** and reasonably less. I couldn't justify the conversion cost...

I found some for $289 I believe at www.acmetruckparts.com. You can get manual or ele. for about the same price, but they are not heated.
