Things to look for on an 01 2500 4wd H0?
I have never really paid attention to the newer trucks cuz I wasn't in the market to afford one, but I may have come across a good deal on a 01 H0 4wd truck with 51k mi on it. The brakes were improved in 01, that's about all I know. Anything to look for on this truck?<br><br>Also, as in another thread, it looks like mpg isn't that great on those trucks? I get 22mpg @ 75 empty in my 91, and love that. the H0 is pumping more power than I am currently, I understand that, but I'm not real excited about giving up my mpg just to get that fancy 6spd

I bought mine with 23,000 miles on it and now have over 30k. All i can say is that it is by far the finest truck I have owned and I have owned alot of trucks including two powerstroke fords which I also liked alot. So far no problems and it drives as smooth as silk. The brakes are much improved over the '96 i owned. And I have no wander...yet. My milage is 17 around town and a sliver over 20 on the freeway. So what are they asking for it?

Also check when shifting it that the gears do not grind. It is common for them to grind from 5th to 6th or I have even driven them with a 4th to 5th grind.<br>DM01

The rear disc brakes came out halfway through '01 model year, early '01 trucks have rear drums. As mentioned check the 6spd for grinding syncro's, also check the lift pump pressure. The LP can fail and the truck still runs fine, however the VP44 injection pump is being starved of lube fuel and will fail prematurely.

it's got a flatbed on it (i'd rather have a reg box) and it's a reg cab, but I have an 'in' at the dealer that says he can get it to me for under $15k, which seems to be a heck of a deal to me....<br><br>the lift pump is a good idea, should be checked on all of them really, and i didn't know the rear discs was a mid yr fix.<br><br>Thanks for the 6spd info as well, I've only ever driven one, and it had only 6k mi on it, so everything worked well on it
