Temp gauge not working

Dad has informed me that the temp gauge on his 97 has quit working , it still blows warm air on a cold day , so it's heating up , just not showing on the gauge.

How do i trouble shoot it? where is the temp sensor? and how do i test it and the rest of the circuit?

Ground the wire and see if the gauge goes up.

10-4 on that one partner.

I got to thinking right after i posted that , i can park my truck beside the old mans and start testing stuff, and find the difference.
