Tailgate Trim Piece
Hey guys. This truck that I'm looking at a 1998 Ram 2500 CTD that has the black trim piece on the tailgate at the bottom with the ridges in it. I really don't like that thing, I think it looks ugly. That being said, is it possible to take it off without any affects to what's underneath. In other words, is there any holes underneath that help it lign up, or is it just some double sided tape? I really like the looks of the truck without it and was wondering how hard it is to remove?
Thanks in advance.

Expect some nice fresh unfaded paint underneath though.

5-6 years of sunshine on the exposed portion of the tailgate.

Just get a 2002, they didn't come with the plastic part ;D

phox

I recently took that thing off and there is little difference in the paint to my eyes. It is, a MAJOR PITA to get all the tape off. There are like 6 strips all across the tailgate holding that thing on, and it's a real bear peeling it off. If you dont have a heat gun, you sure will want one. But once I got all that stuff off, i buffed & waxed the paint and it's not noticeable between the top & bottom.

They work real well. Just my $0.02.
