Steering issues

Ill try to keep this as to the point as possible. I picked up my 95 4x4 2500 a while back, it had unworn but cheap front tires and the rears were pretty shot. It handled like it was driving on ice or heavy winds and pulled to the right a little. took it to a shop they checked the alignment, rebalanced all 4 and put the worn tires on the front and the decent ones on the rear. It drives like a new truck, no pull, wander etc. Time for tires, all 4 replaced with a Bridgestone made 265/75/16 all terrain (rated as a consumers best) now it pulls to the right again and feels like im in a windstorm always, I cant hardly keep it in my lane. 2 hands driving to keep the law from thinking Im drunk or stoned. I dont understand, Im gettin really frustrated here. granted the trac bar is probably not tops but there is 0 play in the steering etc. Im gonna install a Lukes Link soon and see what it does. Anyone want to offer any insight here??
Thanks a bunch.

If there is any play in the track bar at all you have wander problems. Also get under the truck and watch the steering box as an assistant cranks the wheel back and fourth. The pitman shafts can have alot of play in them resulting in sloppy steering.

up grade your track bar to one of the new styles that eliminates the tie rod end, also check the bolts that hold the steering box to the frame and the four bolts that are on top of the box holding the cover on...

I had the same squishy problem when I put on new tires. I had 3 sets put on thinking it was the rubber causing my problem. The tire shop was nice.

I later found out that my track bar was the culprit, making the tail feel like its wagging and wanting to change lanes by itself. After I went and upgraded to the DSS and 03TBK, I had to go back and apologize to the tire shop!

Those products are both worth their money.

The easiest way I checked mine was to have my wife just jiggle the wheel back and forth with the truck running, I put my finger on the upper Track Bar ball joint. It was quite noticable on mine.

Im gonna address the track bar soon. I ran this by the tire shop also. I put BFG commercial TAs on my 93 250 a while back and for the first 500 miles or so it was scary. It was like driving on Iced roads in corners. The guy at the tire shop said he had a bunch of complaints regarding that. Seems now thwt Ive put a couple hundred on the 95 its not as noticable or Im just gettin used to it.

My '01 steering was loose, replaced the track bar with a DT tack bar and had the lower ball joints replaced, with little effect. At the time I was running 265/75-16 Goodyear Wangler AT/S's load range E. Just replaced tires the tires with 315/75-16 Toyo Open Country MT's. Had the truck aligned when I had the tires installed and the steering was back to normal. Might have something to do with how stiff the sidewalls are on the tires. Just my 2 cents.

Not that it will matter in a few days when I am retired, but three of us have Co. vans 03 Dodge 1500. They all wander driving down the interstate. With more aggress AT type tread on Lite truck tires it is more pronounce. Run the tires @ 40 psi.
Hafta keep eyes on road and hands on the wheel.
