17-18?! 360 turns? i know i have more than 5, which is why i don't understand why the book says 2.5, but i don't think mine will go more than 8-9 full turns from one end to the other? maybe it's b/c the front end/wheels will run out of room past 2.5 turns?

I should clarify my statement. I had the steering shaft unhooked and the steeering wheel was free-wheeling. Maybe you could point the front wheels straight and then unhook the shaft and do what I did to center it back up. If you do, be careful not to break the clockspring and call DC service and see if the recall has been done on your truck. That way, if you break it, they will fix it - just don't them all the details.
