Spring Shackle Bolts: BFH and Gas Wrench
I'm trying to replace my rear leafs. To only problem so far is the lower bolt on the shackles are........STUCK!!. I've though about torching, but I need the shackle. I can't get a big enough hammer in their. We cant even turn the bolt. I think it is siezed in the metal sleeve. I've read other threads on this problem, but no one really came up with any good ideas. How about using a ball joint press(the C clamp type) and push out the bolt. I'm going to call: Husky Spring in Des Moines, to see if they have shackles. They make me my U bolts for about 35 bucks, while I waited. So far just working on the springs I spent 4 hours and can't get the last two bolts out. If I COULD FIND MY HAMMER IN THIS MESS, I'D BE THROWING IT RIGHT NOW........AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Are you talking about the bolt that goes through the end of the leaf spring? If so I always have luck with a sawzall between the leaf spring and the inside of the shackle. Just cut each end of the bolt off then get the rubber bushing out after the spring and shackle are out of the way.
