Smashed up mu truck
:'( over the weekend Had a small encounter with a stand of poplar trees that won. Over 6000.00 damage so entire truck is getting repainted including the doorhandles and mirrors, getting the chrome rocker mouldings and a Lund Sun visor, and new tires, all new sheetmetal where was damaged also, New box, door fender etc. Wet sanded and polished too. All paid by insurance thank god. Should be better than ever.

Thats too bad......been there done that....luckily in a company truck....
If ya want my advice.....stay away from the chrome/stainless rocker panels, there can be a lot of polishing when they have a few miles on them. No big deal I guess if you dont mind polishing them a number of times a year. Im a fan of the sprayed on bedliner....look into getting some rhino lining or linex sprayed on...works great.

First off...sorry to hear about the wreck. That said, don't kidd yourself, Once wrecked they are never the same, muchless like new. (new comes along only once, when you drive it home from the dealer). I have to disagree with the comment on the ss rocker panels, I have not had any problems, and I am going on 5 years. Maybe it depends on the use, abuse, care, and type???? hope it all turns out ok for you, Good luck.

I would guess that I see a bit more salt/de-icer on the roads I travel....they do look good when they are new.

chrome bad (unless it's over stainless)...stainless good IMHO
If it's just sheetmetal and bolt ons they fix 'em pretty good. Heavy impact, rollovers....well...never the same.

Re:Smashed up mu truck
as far as your rocker panels go, i just had mine sprayed with Line-X. I was having the bed done, and decided to do the rocker panels too. my truck is white, and the panels are black. it looks sweet. i got them to spray it all the way up to the first crease in the door(probly 12" from bottom of door). looks sharp.
