Slip Yoke Travel

I am having my drive shafts cut today. The dude said I need an inch of forward travel at the rear shaft slip yoke. Does that seem short?

There does not seem to be very many technical people around here. I found out the answer from a couple driveline places today for all of you newbs. 1inch of forward movement is acceptable.
