Simple A/C Fixes

when i bought my truck three years ago it had no too little a/c oh well is what i thought then came summer so i brought it in the shop and had the system checked out and found that the valve core on the low pressure side took a dirt nap and they replaced the core and charged the system GREAT cold A/C again. Fast forward two winters and again this summer no A/C again . Lesson learned from previous years I checked an low and be hold my high pressure side had came loose and i could see were the freon had came out and went over tightened it back down and bought the little recharge kit at napa filled her up got the pressures 25-45ish and blowing cold cold colddddddddddd air again I ran out of the juice id like to get the pressures touching the high side of 25 and the top side of 45 but untill tomarow when I can get too town for one more shot of 134 cause i know it can be colder.

Lesson learned here guys is if your having A/C problems but every thing else seems to be working check those cores its simple and easy and it will save you a 80 dollar dr visit just for them to put a one dollar core and 30 bucks worth of 134 in.

you should be at your limits of 40 psi on the low side but you are absolutly right about the valve cores one little thing that gets over looked time after time.

So you think I should leave well enough alone and just watch the pressures?

depends what your ambient temp is, but really on the low side your wanting to stay from high pressures 25-40 is the norm. what is your high side psi?

I was reading in my service manual and it gives what the press. should be with the different ambient temps. I think it said if the temps were @95 the low press. should be in the 50-60 range. It also said that if it was cooling at 35-40 leave it there. Kind of contradictory of everything I've been told so I just charged it to 40 and left it alone.
