Thanks for the info. So, you're saying that the M-55's do have a good bit more road noise compared to a set of Michelin AT tires.

I don't know if there is any difference in road noise. It just makes sense that the more aggresive the tread, the more noise. I have always used the M55 on this truck, as it is the best in my opinion for what I do. I think I read that Infidel used to use the M55 tire, changed to the Toyo highway tire, and noted the ride was better and noise was less, maybe he will reply.

Thanks. Since I don't do much off road driving, I'm thinking about going with some of the Michelin LTX AT/2 tires. They seem to get very good reviews & have good traction.

someone correct me if I'm wrong... 17in wheels will be taller...how tall depends of course on what size tires.

stock tires size on 16 were 2.45 85r 16
one ton had 2.35 85r 16 x 6

you can find a skinny tall tire for 16 in rims too

I was just wanting to upgrade to a tire that was about an 1" or 1.5" higher to add some ground clearance....I'm just trying to avoid tires that are real wide cause i don't care to much how really wide tires look on these trucks. I would like to keep the 16" factory rims that i have. They are the aluminum ones & i like how they look.

I know if you add 1in of wheel diameter, you gain 1/2in of ground clearance. That is if your tire size is the same height. My buddy went from 17in to 22in on his avalanche and his speedo did not change, but ground clearance went up. The height of the tires were the same.
