reverse/backup lights not working

I just bought a 1998 extended cab short bed dodge cummins 12v and i noticed that my reverse lights arent working. Was wondering if anyone new anything it could be or what i could do to find the problem. Ive replaced the bulbs and checked my fuses and there still not working. My brake lights and everything else works just not my reverse/backup lights.

Have you crawled under truck to see if the wiring harness is connected to the back-up light switch on the tranny???

Mine is connected, but the lights still don't work. Instead of replacing the switch, I think I'm going with a light under the bumper and a rocker switch on the dash or in the back by the bed someplace.

Mine is doing the same thing. All harnesses are connected. Truck will not start in Reverse or Drive, only Park and Neutral, so NSS is operational. Anyone with experience in this chiming in would be most appreciated.

My backup light switch in the transmission went out, and it only took about 5 minutes to replace. Also, it read as if it were still good on a volt meter.

Mine went out a year ago, truck started and ran fine.My backup lights were intermittent, then no backup lights at all.Replaced NSS,problem solved. It's an easy job, disconnect wire harness and remove.Be sure to install the metal washer on the new switch,or it will leak.(I know) You can test your lights without removing the switch.Remove the harness from plug, put jumper wire between the two backup light wires, and turn on ignition switch, lights should come on.By the way, when you remove the switch dont be surprised if you loose some fluid,I lost about A quart. Good luck.
