Requesting pictures of Ambient Temp Sensor and under the hood wiring

Everyone:

I'm upgrading my rear view mirrow and console to the one with a trip computer and the automatic dimming feature. I've searched on the board and found all the part numbers that I need. I've also looked at the illustrations in my service manual. It isn't very clear. Could someone take some pictures of their ambient temp sensor under the hood and trace the wiring to the plug in location near the hood light? That would eliminate a lot of guess work.

Thanks in advance.

Bobby

2002 has the sensor mounted to the hood latch, pre 2001 has it mounted to a radiator support, so the pics from a 98 might not help much

I'm at work, otherwise I'd run out and take a pic.
If nothing shows up by tomorrow, I'll jump in.

Hmmmm.

Maybe it was 24 valve on up that has it mounted to the hood latch?

Sadlerb 98

I posted pictures of my 98. The sensor wire goes behind the hood insulation and plugs in to the underhood light cable then goes into fender area and out to the main harness, it is hard wired from there

HiJenks,

Thanks! Wonder why I don't have a hood insulation? Does anyone else have it? I thought maybe the diesels didn't have them. I know my last two dodge ram gassers did.

Just one of those cost cutting measures that plague us 2002 owners.

No rear cup holder, no lighted halo around ignition, no plastic bumper thingy on the tailgate, no full length shopping cart absorber trim, no rear wheel well liners, on and on.

Phox,

Yea. I'm starting to notice that. Can you take some pics so I can see where the wires run without the shield. I got a good location now for the latch area. I think I need to find the bracket that the parts house no longer sells. Off to a junk yard this weekend.

Here's pics of mine.

First the sensor itself

The the harness down past the hoodlight to the connector

Then a closeup of the connector then the tie in to the hoodlight harness

If you need closeups of anything else, let me know.

Pics are in my gallery, with bigger versions.
