Replacing warning lights?

As I get closer to having the new LMC dash installed, I wanted to replace a few warning lights (4WD & WASHER). Are these dealer only? I pulled one light out and after fighting with it for a few minutes, finally got it out of the gray socket. There are TWO sliver blades attached to the light bulb? One on each side? Also I noticed there is one missing in the UP SHIFT slot?

THANKS

NAPA can get them.

Not sure the upshift feature was ever actually used in these trucks. Driven quite a few of them and never seen it lit.

May be why the socket is empty? SO the OEM lights just pull out with those strange blades and you plug in a new bulb with standard filament?

IIRC they come out from behind.

My confusion is that the OEM bulbs look like they have wings on the bottom. They are not just the smooth sided bulbs. They have little "blades" that are attached by a thin wire to the bulb. Is this just the style? Will replacement bulbs just push into the sockets?

In the FSM it shows the bulb coming out the back with the plastic holder unit ie "turn the bulb holder counterclockwise approx 60 degrees and pull out."

Don't know about the bulb question. Sorry.

They do, look on the bulb, there will be a number written like 194 or PC194, etc. That is the number you need.

I know the dash lights used PC74 and PC194's for various functions in 97, probably the same for 98.

+1 I have my dash out right now and just called my local Napa, and described the bulb as looking like a regular 194 but with the plastic twist socket and they said it was a "pc194".

Some of those dash bulbs are permanently attached to the plastic socket and not meant to be taken out of it.

That is what I am thinking is the case with these "warning" lights. I know the 194 are the ones that light the dash and some marker lights. The smaller ones for the warning lights are probably PCXXX? They come with the sockets? I believe there is a NAPA here in town, I will check this weekend...

THANKS!!

Just replaced a few burnt out with pc194's. Yes, they are mounted to the plastic bases and readily available. My local Napa had them in stock. The smaller ones probably were too, but none of mine were burnt out, so I just replaced the ones that were after realizing how easy it is to pull the cluster. If it had been more difficult I probably would have replaced *all* the bulbs.

I did notice that on the stock bulb sockets the little tabs that engage the circuit board are really springy, and the ones from the parts store were pretty stiff, so I bent the tabs down a bit to make them not scuff so hard. One side's contacts sat a little high.
