Removing chrome on rocker panels?

Anybody have any experience removing the chrome panels that are on the rocker panels on some models? I was hoping to get the chrome off so I could have the rockers sprayed with truck box liner. Thanks.

You mean the aftermarket add-ons? Those are a blast to take off, especially on a freshly-painted truck

Pretty much all you can do is use a heat gun and peel them off when the adhesive is softened. Some adhesive may stick on the truck, so some adhesive remover can be used to remove the rest...you can also use a scraper to take them off, but may scratch the paint. Since your lining them anyway that may not be an issue

Thanks 07'...I don't know if the chrome is aftermarket, I bought the truck used and I thought the chrome was just part of the trim package that the truck came with new?

They never put chrome on the rocker panels from the factory.

I took some off of a buddys truck one time and we used a heat gun to get the major part off and then used ether and a rag and scrubbed the sticky film off, the ether may not be the best on paint, but like you say if your gonna paint over it anyway it doesnt matter.
