I think it is where the screw holes are. Mine are on the sides. If you decide not to get them how about a PM. I'm thinking of switching to LEDs

Perhaps it is the distance between the screws and the overall shape of the lens

You can look at these pics, but it would be better if you checked out the actual trucks.

The 94-98 are trianglar shaped and WILL NOT work on your truck without drilling new holes if you have factory cab lights. If your truck does not have them then they will work fine. The reason they will not work is because the screw holes are different between the lights. I tried to install the 99-02 factory lights on my 94 1ton and found this out. The 99-02 are more rectangular shaped.

one piece of information, the inside of the cabs already have the holes drilled under the head liner, so drill you holes from the bottom, also prevents denting, i just guessed mine and was really close to the stock holes, i should of checked under the liner first, oh well they look good any way

if you drop the headliner you will find 5 holes appr 1in 1/8th in diameter designed for factory bulb base clearance. I just recently installed 03-08 recon cablights on my 01. i used a 1 inch craftsman socket and it slid tightly in the hole this allowed me to center the holes in a uniform pattern the i used a 3/8 drill to run through the socket from inside the cab. then use a 7/8 stepper drill to run from outside the truck. take it EASY. then align your cab lights accordingly and measure them out ... you can use a piece of string an center it in the grill emblem and center bumper hole then align in center of hole made in cab. then this will put your cab light in the middle dead on. install the middle one and work your way out measuring from it. I bought my harness from the wrecking yard and tied into my headlight switch.

I may actually get around to installing these this wknd. My truck did not come with cab lights so where could I get a harness besides the Jyard? Did you people take any extra steps to prevent leaking?

I have a 97 and put the 98.5-02 recon lights on it. the holes matched up perfect. The 03 up set has the holes front to back instead of on the side.

If you can't get a harness through the salvage then you have two options you can buy a factory cab light install kit for about 80 dollars. Or if it was me i would just go get a roll of wire and solder my lights onto the wire. The factory gronds on the roof panel so i would do the same and just run one wire down the pillar.

Blitz when I did mine it was years ago and i was trying to put factory light in there place. Your recons are prob like my recons i just installed... do they have a pig tail coming out of them? prob i had with the stockers is the hole for the plug did not match up

If you do not have a dually then your truck should not have cab ICC and marker lights also the ICC and Marker lamps along the rear of the bed or tailgate.

They are there because of DOT and have to do because of the width of the truck.

Also if you do decide to install lamps I think the commercial lamps like Grote, Truck Lite are allot better in quality that the ones you get at a aftermarket parts store, the lens will not scratch and fade like the cheaper ones do, just my experience and observation.
