Oofta... Good idea to replace them while you have easy access. Have you checked any junk yards nearby? I got a set from a yard that came with my springs that were in perfect shape. Actually... now that I think of it I may have an extra set of shackles at home, but I wouldn't be able to make it back there until Thanksgiving. Shoot me a PM if you might want them and could wait that long... I'd imagine you're looking to get it back on the road right away though.

What?? I bougt mine new at the dealer for 45$ each.. wonder where hes getting that crazy price from.
Install wasnt bad except I had to saw all of the bolts off they were jammed in there good. New bolts were a little pricey because of the number of them. I coated everything in moly lube this time.
The control arems are the same deal on my truck, all seized up inside. Im having a local diesel shop do the control arms when the lift goes in.
Oh yeah, go to theruststore.com and pick up a couple gallons of tannic acid based rust converter. Spray that all over that poor frame. Its suffering, really!
Wow thats bad rust...
I should post some pics of my shackle hangars. Look much better after wire brush and some rust converter.

I'll call around locally for some of that rust converter tommorow.

That is the absolute worst rust area on the frame.

here are some other shots of the chassis.

yeah I like the tannic acid stuff. The phosphoric acid / zinc is good too but it leaves a white residue that looks odd. Good for spraying into fenders and doors I guess.
If I could get the bed off Id wire brush the frame and use some cold galvanizing paint like whats used on the back of body panels.

Looks like my frame did about 2wks ago.Pulled the bed and tank and went at it with a wire wheel and a chipping gun for the heavy stuff. After it was cleaned up I painted it with primer and that hammered rust paint rustoleum has. Replaced all the brake and fuel lines while I was at it. It's like a brand new truck back there.I thought my shakles were too far gone but after cleaned up they looked pretty good. I also got a really high qoute from Dodge.

Yeah I think mine cost me about $50 each from the dealer a few months ago also. My drivers side shackle actually broke. My bolts all came out easily, I guess I lucked out.
