Question Rear Disc Brakes

My rear brakes (94 2500) were converted over to disc. brakes. The brake calipers off a 1978-79 Cadillac Eldorado were used. The pistons are in bad shape and I would like to replace the calipers. Problem, These calipers are so old and rare that they are not readily available. I was able to locate rotors which fit. (mid 80s Chevy truck) Does anyone know of any other calipers which will fit those backing plates? OR -- any other backing plate and caliper which bolts up to the Rams? Will the newer Dodge rear disc brakes retro to a 94? The only other solution I see is to go back to the original drum brakes, probably from a parts truck.

see if a brake shop will rebuild the calipers. I know some shops do this but you may have to call around as not everyone will.

the calipers for the same truck that your rotors were made for will fit but you lose your e-brake thats why the cadillac calipers are used. I have heard of guys putting newer style dodge setups on not sure what all is involed though

Thanks, any idea what they did for an Ebrake. I have gone through dozens of mid 80s truck rear brakes and I have not been able to find any calipers which fit the Cadillac bracket. They must use a different mounting bracket setup. I do not know how to determine if any of them will bolt up to the Dodge axle. There must be some other disc brake conversions out there that use a little newer calipers. This conversion was done in 94 in Michigan. If anyone has any
familiarity with the newer Dodge disc brakes and their caliper bracket mounting, I think that would be the best way to go. Maybe even swaping out the whole rear axle.

--- The problem with a rebuild is that the Eldorado caliper used was only used 2yrs and there are no parts out there, no rebuild kits and no pistons. there are some seal kits and spring kits but these brakes need a new piston.

Thanks, I will contact them Monday. even at $320.00 new Instead of apx $150.00 for rebuilt, it would be cheaper than starting fresh with a new conversion or return to stock.
