Project frame swap has begun!

Bought another frame for my truck a few months back and am just now starting on it.

The frame currently under my truck is bent pretty bad. I bought it wrecked that way and have been driving it like that for awhile. Finally found a replacement frame for it.

The donor frame is from a V10 truck and it is identical to my diesel frame.

I'm just going to do a frame up restoration. I stripped the donor frame yesterday. I already have one frame rail almost completely ground down and all the scale off today. I'll be painting it tomorrow. I'm gonna run all new brake line since everything is stripped.

Just bought a new front bumper with plastic, grille, and new diamond cut one piece headlights/signals.

I'll try to snap a few pics tomorrow.

If you didn't know, prime it before you paint it. Better results.

Man, have fun. It'll be a nice payoff in the end.

I'm glad to see someone doing this. I also bought my truck wrecked and would like to change the frame later on.

If you bought an early frame check to see that it had the supports by the shocks mount welded in. These frames had a weakness that caused cracking around this area. My dad's '94 V-10 got a recall notice for this problem back in '96, if I recall correctly. Its a relatively minor repair but makes the frame stronger in this area and might be easier to do before assembly. Just a thought, Kurt

Can you detail a little more? You talking about the rear shocks? I'll try to snap a pic today of the area. Sure would be easier to get it welded up now if it needs it.

It is the front spring tower that gets reinforced or replaced

I am getting very close to getting my frame swap done. I just drove it tonight for the first time in 5 months. It felt so good. I'll have some more pics up soon...

Man, that is a lot of work for a slightly dented front bumper
Good luck!

Where did you get those headlights and are they any better than stock?
