Pressure Snubber?

Just got off the phone with glowshift. They are replacing my 0-30psi fuel pressure sending unit after about 3 months (under warranty). He said there is a problem with dodge trucks; the surge of pressure at startup destroys the sending unit. He said i need to buy a pressure snubber... any idea where to get this and how will i know it's compatible with my sending unit? Thanks

Are you running an electrical or mechanical fuel pressure gage?

I have run an ISSPRO mechanical fuel pressure gage now for 8 years with fuel going direct to the gage. The closest thing to a "snubber" I guess is the short grease gun hose I have mounted to the bottom of the filter canister and then it's steel braided to the gage. The grease gun hose does dampen the hammering from the VP. Have had zero problems so far.

Most everyone on here I believe that has run electric gages have gone the mechanical route.

If you have an Ace Hardware near you, go buy a needle valve. You can probably find one at any hardware store. That's all I'm using as a snubber on my electric gauge. No issues so far after 2 years.

Use a needle valve barely cracked open instead of a snubber then in the event you have a leak it can be shut down all the way.
This is the one I use http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/6MN31

A barely cracked needle valve works, but you can make your own snubber for next to nothing very easily.

Remove one of the pipe fittings between the sending unit and the pump. If you don't have a convenient fitting to remove, find a way to add one. This fitting needs to be straight and not a 45 or 90 degree. Find a piece of solid aluminum or lead that will slide inside the fitting. It only needs to be about 3/8" long. Place a straight punch in a vise of the same ID as the fitting. Place the fitting with the piece of aluminum centered in the fitting and use another punch to make it swell and lightly jam in the fitting to plug it. Drill a 1/16" hole thru the middle of the plug. Now continue to swell the plug until you can barely see any light thru the plug. In other words, you have almost closed that 1/16" hole drilled. Voila - one super snubber.

I have a Westach electric fuel gauge for 6 years now. Same sender. Always had a needle valve ahead of it cranked down to just barely open and it's helped the longevity for sure.

I put a parker 1/8th needle valve on mine. I run a mechanical guage in the cab. If the line breaks or leaks I can just close the valve until I have time to fix it. Otherwise, It dampens the pulsation coming from the supply pump.
