Power sttering fluid Everywhere.

Had to make a U-turn today (turning left) I hat the wheel at full lock for maybe 2-3 seconds. at about the end of the turn i felt a little pop and then could smell power steering fluid. I then had no powersteering or power brakes. I popped the hood and found the blue canister type peice almost looks like a filter thats mounted on the firewall with the mastercylinder for the brakes this blue canister has "COMPRESSOR' stamped on it. it is kind of haning half way out on an angle. so its wdge in there. i put my hand on it to see if i could pull it straight or off, but that wasnt happening. Any thoughts on what i should do at this point?

Id check to make sure you didnt just pop off one of the hoses around the power steering pump / vacuum pump area.
Do you mean the brake booster the master cyl bolts to popped off the firewall?
maybe the power steering fluid was overfilled?

That little can is called an accumulator, its under high pressure. What it does is store pressure in the event of P/S failer to give you one good stop. I've never seen one pop out. Its held in with a snap ring and an o-ring, but I don't think you be able to find them. Bad news is I think your looking at a new hydroboost.

you are probably looking at $200.00 for a reman, not real hard to install.

You can pull the snap ring and try and get the can off to check for damage then reinstall if its ok. I think you'll need a c-clamp of sorts to reseat the can and get the snap ring back in place, but there again I have never seen one pop out and you may not be so lucky next time if it pops out.

Rapid Brake at (360) 357-4958 offers a rebuild kit for around $25 for your accumulator. Goodluck,,Rick

Am I looking at bleeding the entire brake system to install one of these? or is it a simple bolt on? just give me a crash course of what i might encounter thanks!

No, you can unbolt the master cyl leaving the lines attached and just ease it out of the way. You will have to bleed the PS system. Jack the front up, fill the PS, start engine, then slowly pump the pedal while turning the wheel all the way to each side. Shut down let it sit a few minutes and do again untill no more foam is seen is the PS.
